Carol L. Moody

Carol Moody grew up in the Seattle area and attended law school at the University of Washington.  She began her practice in a large Seattle law firm in 1980, becoming a partner in 1987.  In 1993, she was a founder and partner of Moody & Battuello, a firm specializing in health care professional liability and products liability, though her cases also continued to include a wide range of civil disputes.  Carol’s practice has included representation of physicians and hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, a large school district and a professional football team.  Her experience includes civil jury trials, appellate practice and serving as a mediator in civil cases.  She has also done litigation consulting on cases for both plaintiff’s and defense counsel. Carol is rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell.  She joined Fain Anderson Sheldon & VanDerhoef, PLLC, as “of counsel” in 2005.

Litigation Experience

Ms. Moody has tried numerous cases in state and federal courts around the state of Washington.  Highlights of her experience include the following:

• Successful defense of three physicians against allegations of improper removal of life support systems in a case televised nationally on “Court TV”.
• Successful defense of a University of Washington physician against allegations of improper performance of an experimental surgical procedure.
• Successful defense of a professional football team against liability for the off-field conduct of its players.
• Lead counsel for a large school district in cases involving alleged sexual assaults on students.
• Lead counsel for pharmaceutical companies in product liability cases.
• Representation of numerous physicians, hospital and health maintenance organizations in professional malpractice actions.
• Consultation and participation in developing policies, procedures and risk management strategies for health care facilities.
• Negotiation and mediation of a wide range of legal disputes.
